Jim McKenzie The Scarecrow

Hey Everyone!

I'm really exited to post today. I got a new figure! I ordered it Monday and it arrived today in the mail! Let me tell you.. I have wanted this little man since the day I saw the  YouTube video of The Scarecrow coming to life.

Jim McKenzie. He's such a talented man.. I'm blown away by all of the sculptures I've seen of his. As someone that enjoys to dabble a lot in the sculpting realm, I have a hard time believing he didn't sell his soul to the Devil for that much talent. I can't create anything NEARLY that good looking. But, alas, I'm just a crafter who thinks she's an artist sometimes.

Anyway, back to this wonderful little man. I saw a post from the artist saying that these collectible figures were available at ToyQube. Soooo I naturally freaked out, headed DIRECTLY to ToyQube to find my little love. I found him. $165.00 and a few days later, he's here. I panicked right after I paid. $165.00 is a LOT of money when you're relying on your talents to pay your bills. But I know that he is going to make me happy for a VERY long time.

So the time has come. I will share my little guy with you and tell you ALLLLLLL about him!

Look at that BOX! It's the coolest box ever! The colors are so bright and vivid. So it's wrapped around. It has a close up of The Scarecrow illustration on the very front, then wrapped around is another image of The Scarecrow with clouds, sky, birds and the ground. It's a sturdy box, perfect size for what's inside! The bottom has your standard warnings and company info. The top of the box has Jim McKenzie logo on it.

Toy Qube teamed up with Mr. McKenzie and created a half scale version of the original Scarecrow.  This is the base.. As soon as I pulled all of the foam out of the box, this separated. It was packed VERY well.

This is the top of the base. It's SO COOL LOOKIN!!!!!! I can't. It's colors are so pretty together and so bright. Very Oompa Loompa land (in my head) That's what I would think the ground looks like in Loompa Land lol.

What's this?! A cut out!? Awesome. I love that this is packed this way. I don't know why, but I love the cut out.

I love what's under the cut out a LOT MORE!!!

There he is!! There's that adorable creepy little sweet face! Those eyes! LOOK! The bird! Yes!!!

This bird has straw hanging out of its mouth! And a peg on his feet. He will set upon the T that holds the boy.

Here's the boy! The Scarecrow! OH MY GOSH!!!! I am SO FREAKING EXCITED! I love him. I love him I love him I love him! He's sooooo well made. You should really take the time and watch the YouTube videos he's posted about his work. It shows everything he does to create his pieces. The Scarecrow was a huge hit. I'm really lucky I was able to purchase this. If it weren't for him teaming up with ToyQube, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to have him in my home.

The Scarecrow just sets down into this cut out on the base. He snaps in, and he's really secure. There's no teetering. It's a solid heavy piece.

The bird sits right down on the post. The peg goes right in the hole, his feet hug the top and he's not going anywhere. He's securely in there.

Gosh, look at the detail on that boys face, the post and his hat and shirt! See the straw hanging out of his neck? Attention to small details like that make things extremely big!

The expression on that face! Alright.. SO this is his lil noggin. I love the hair! I love his EYES!!! I love the stitching and I love the color. His lil nose! The hat is textured and I love that!

The detail he took the time to put in the clothing just blow my mind. I wish I could do such work. I try, and it just turns to bleh. That's a lot of work he's put into this little guy. His britches and his shirt, and the straw. The gloves! His hands are awesome!

This is his little legs. He's got on the coolest shoes. I'm a fan of these feet. He has continued to blow my mind with the pants and the socks and the shoes. I think the shoes were like the ones Jim McKenzie was wearing in his video of the creation of this little guy. I like that. Putting a piece of yourself in your art work. That's my favorite part of creating art. When I crochet, I always end up with a strand of hair on my work.. Maybe two strands. But there's always a piece of me in there.

This is the front of the base. It's got The Scarecrow on the front of it. I love the letter style. It's suttle, doesn't stand out and distract you from the figure itself. I love it.

This is the full affect! He's assembled (easily) and he's freaking AWESOME.

I thought I'd add this, because I like it. Artists gotta have his name on his work! And it's well places and looks nice. I love the lettering.

Here's a better look at the details in the hands and the sleeves. So good.

Lalaloopsy

Lalaloopsy dolls for sale, folks!!
I have listed quite a few minis in my Ebay shop! I will be listing more, too. I have some large dolls, and I have some more minis. I have a broken foot right now, and I can't walk on it, so it's kind of difficult to get around the house on a walker. As soon as I can get my way around to the closets where they're being stored, I will pot more about them, and post them to sell.
But I have mini's and large dolls to post. If you have any questions, just ask, and I'll let you know. Also, I can give you a deal if you're buying more than 2. Just ask! I'm selling these to get them out of the house. There's no attachment to them at all. :)

Ebay update!

SO!!! For all of the Lalaloopsy lovers out there, we have some for sale in our Ebay shop! Check it out. I'm getting rid of most of my collection. It's mostly mini's left.. There are some larger dolls we haven't posted yet, that I will be getting rid of.. So if you're interested in Lalaloopsy dolls, go look. Now, it's not any of the newer series.. Say... Maybe withing the last year or two.. I haven't been buying them in a long long time, and I have no idea what new ones are even out. I lost instrest.. All of my dolls are NEW IN BOX (NIB) and never opened. I liked to display the minis on the wall, and so they just hung there. The larger ones were on a book case, and never were even looked at most of the time. So, we moved the rooms around, I decided we didn't have room for them anymore, and now they're mostly gone.. But I have a few left. They've been stored in a closet for the last two years.

Heyyyy everyone!! I wanted to share some things I have!

This is an old doll house that I repainted in black, grey and purples, oh and moss green. I added the Sassy Skeletons because they were the right size. I used some scrap book stuff for decorations because I couldn't find anything else to do with them.

This shelf has some of the first clay things I made, my Columbia figure that I LOVE, some Funko

 Horror blind figures, my Mary Popping Pop figure that I love, my Funke Frankenstein in the back that's definitely one of my most favorites, Betty Page, some Lenore figures, and the best figure ever... Willy Wonka. Gene Wilder has always been one of my favorite actors. He's a huge part of my childhood and adulthood. The movies he's made, I love them all, but they all take me away. Either take me to a different land and time, or a happy time in my life. They couldn't be the movies they are if it weren't for Mr. Wilder. His passing away has made me so sad.. But.. You know what happens to the boy who get's everything he wants? He lives happily ever after.  

This shelf has a whole bunch of coolness on it. Corpse Bride, Young Frankenstein, Son of Frankenstein , Jack Skellington, Creature from the Black Lagoon, my very first Day Of The Dead doll that I made, and some blind box figures. There's a really awesome Franky back there... I will share about him in another post soon. I also have some Frank and Bride skulls. 

This was completed today. I was in line at the craft store and saw these little metal models, I found R2-D2 for my husband. He loves Star Wars, so he loves this! It wasn't that hard to put together, it was my first model, and I broke one piece, but you can't tell once he's together. It doesn't affect him at all. They have others I will eventually put together for him. I kinda liked doing it! They're by Metal Earth, by the way.. and ingot it at A.C. Moore!

 

So that's it for tonight. I will touch base on more stuff later on. I just wanted to share the stuff I love to look at. There's bunches more! So stay tuned!!

I'm baaaaack!!

I know it's been well over a year since I've posted anything here. There's a good reason. I haven't been collecting toys as much..
I have some news though.. Ready?? I am going to start posting about my newer collections! Yay!!

I got a new camera, so I will be using better photos in my blogs. I'm hoping to get more interactions with this blog, instead of me just talking to whoever, and no one responding. I'm hoping to be doing some giveaways and trades. I have given up on the Lalaloopsy dolls.. For me, they got too big and commercial and lost the greatness. But I have some mini's and fill size dolls that I will keep for myself. I have sold almost everything else though. I have some still that haven't sold.. May e I can work out some trades with those. I'll get a list of all the ones that I have, and post that sometime within the next week. I've been busy trying to get my business up and running, so I may get side tracked. I will try my best to keep this on track now.

So stay tuned! I will be posting pretty regular. And maybe, if it takes off like I'm hoping, this, too, can become part of something better!

New Lalaloopsy Minis Series 14

Hey everyone,
Today, I'll be going over the Lalaloopsy Minis from series 14. They are Candle Piece O' Cake, Sweetie Candy Ribbon, Queenie Red Heart and Frost I.C. Cone.

If you're familiar with Lalaloopsy Mini's, you'll notice that they have changed the way they package these toys. The minis are the same size (3"), I believe.
Here's what we have here,  Candle Piece O' Cake and Sweetie Candy Ribbon, first.

Candle comes in her birthday cake dress, her icing hair and with her little cupcake puppy. She also comes with a pink heart balloon. Her Sewn on is Your Birthday and she's made from a birthday cake.
Sweetie comes in her original vivid colored dress and hair. She has her little puppy with the floppy ribbon ears. She also comes with a large swirly lollipop. Her sewn on is March 23rd and she's made from a pie of taffy.

Queenie comes in her original dress with her flamingo. She also comes with a rose bush shaped like a heart. Her sets on is September 28, and she's made from a deck of cards. Frost comes in an almost transparent dress with matching hair. She has her little snow cone bunny with her, she also comes with a snow come. Her sewn on date is September 22nd, and she's made from a snow cone.

These mini's have changed a lot, since the last series. I'm not fond of the new packaging choice they've decided to go with, like placing the dolls on cards, instead of the little houses they used to be on. But, kids probably threw the packaging away, and just played with the doll. This way, it's less trash. I have another issue here, there are less accessories with these dolls. It seems to me that MGA is cutting down on cost, and taking away the best parts of the toys. I think they should cut down on how many different lines of Lalaloopsy dolls and toys they have, and focus on the best ones. That way they can just improve on the main toys, instead of taking away.
Don't get me wrong, I still really like the minis. I just wanted the regular packaging, and the extra accessories.

Lalaloopsy Replacement Parts

Hey everyone! Just a short little post to let you know that if you need replacement parts for you MGA toys, such as Lalaloopsy or Brats, you can order them from their website under Customer Service, then Replacement Parts. It's pretty simple, and convenient. I'm not sure if you have to pay for EVERYTHING you order, but the Markers for the Color Me dolls, you do.

Lalaloopsy Newborns Review

Hello all of my fellow Lalaloopsy fans!!! I have a new review for you!

I got this box in the mail today, and this is what was inside! Lalaloopsy Newborns are sold at ToysRUs.com and in store as well. They generally sell for $7.99
So, they're affordable and fun. They don't have a whole lot going on with each doll. There is six in the line of Newborns. They dolls are 4"tall and come with a baby bottle. They're made of a hard plastic, with the clothes molded on. The heads swivel, arms swivel and legs bend. Nothing comes apart, I've pulled and pulled to see how safe it would be for babies. There would have to be some serious prying and yanking to get these babies to budge. The box is about 5"tall and has an adoption certificate on the back that will punch out for you to keep. Like regular Lalaloopsy dolls, they have personality specifications and you give them the adoption date. I don't really have a lot to say about them, because I'm not really into these specific toys. I do still want to collect the mini's and the Lalaloopsy Girls. Maybe even some Pet Pals still. I just will be keeping my large dolls to a minimum. I've been getting into comic books a lot more lately and have been focusing more on that collection.
The good folks at Lalaloopsy Insiders sent me these dolls in exchange for my reviews on them. I highly recommend signing up for Lalaloopsy Insiders and being an active member. This is the second time they've sent me toys to review. It's an awesome experience being part of Lalaloopsy Insiders. They're super friendly, responsive and generous. There's constant posts to update you social media accounts with. Tons of info available.
I will be keeping these Newborns, because they're adorable and display really well. I can keep them in the boxes and hang them up. They don't take up much room at all. They're perfect for any Lalaloopsy collector. If I knew any small girls I'd share these adorable toys, but I don't have any around.
So there's what I think about these toys. I highly recommend them and am glad I have them in my collection!!

Lalaloopsy Inventory shrinkage.

I have come to the realization that I've grown uninterested in the large core Lalaloopsy dolls. There are quite a few in my collection that I will be getting rid of within the next couple months. We will start posting them on eBay for sale, in November. First, I need to go through them and decide on what few I can't get rid of.
As someone who has collected these dolls for a couple years now, I noticed that the value of these dolls has decreased. There are dolls that were extremely hard to find and highly expensive last year, that MGA has rereleased. That has taken away from the excitement for me. I appreciated the hunt, the rarity, the exclusiveness of some of the dolls. That's all gone now.
MGA has released some really unique dolls within the last year or so, and I have a few favorites that I will be keeping. But, there has been quite a few that I'm not nuts about, that will be going to new homes.
I really lost interest in these dolls when the new line of Lalaloopsy girls was released. I like the girls, they're much more displayable than the large core dolls, and they're more affordable and widely available. So, if I buy any of the Girls, I wont feel bad about opening them to display them on a shelf, and getting dust on them. I enjoy being able to really enjoy the dolls. With the large core dolls, I couldn't really display them very well, if they were unboxed. I'm 31 years old, I can't find enjoyment in tea parties and dress up anymore.
I never thought MGA would rerelease dolls. I thought that Lalaloopsy dolls would be an investment, but it's been proven otherwise. So before these dolls lose all value, I'll try to get SOME of our money back.
Once we post the dolls on eBay, I will post a link here. Most dolls are still mint in the box. If you have any dolls that you were looking for and just wanting to buy for a fair price, just ask. I'm not looking to get every penny back, it won't happen. Also, we have two of the Roller Coaster play sets, if anyone's interested. Just leave a comment, or email me woollyghoulie@gmail.com. I have a pretty large collection, so if there's a doll you're looking for, I might just have it!!!

Lalaloopsy Girls - Crumbs Sugar Cookie

Hey everyone,
Today, I went to Target, and got Crumbs! She's the Lalaloopsy Girls doll, and I love her. I did unbox her, and play with her hair a little. :)

 This is her! She's adorable, isn't she? I think these dolls display well in their packaging, because the boxes are decorated so well. It looks as though she's standing in a bakery shop.

 This is the back, very similar to the other Lalaloopsy Girls boxes. They're pretty much the same, only they're specified to their character. The back has her L.A.L.A. Prep School I.D. card, some cookies, some recipe info, and specific info to the doll.

This is her out of the box, and standing up. She's standing with her pet mouse, and comb.

 These are the shoes she comes with. They're very cute, I like the pink bow against the black shoes. She's wearing pink knee high socks with ruffles at the top. These shoes help the doll stand up on her own, so they don't come with stands. The shoes have heavy bottoms, and are pretty solid. The doll stands on her own pretty sturdy.

 This is the mouse and the comb. The mouse is very different from the other mouse she has as a regular Lalaloopsy doll.

 The hair on the doll is molded for the most part, the strands are plastic strands that are implanted in the head. This doll has two piggy tails on the side, and a band of hair that goes around the back.

 This is a pretty good picture of her face, you can see she has the typical pink cheeks, the black button eyes, and the black bow. She looks like she's wearing eyeliner, and mascara, if you ask me. I think she's just adorable anyway ;)

The back of the doll has the molded MGA info on it, and her bottom has the sewn on date, like the other Lalaloopsy dolls do.

 This is the two unboxed Lalaloopsy Girls that I have! They're cute, age appropriate and fun! Peanut and Crumbs go well together, and will display on my shelves perfectly. They both come with shoes that are removable, removable outfits, pets and combs. The bows do NOT come off. They're glued in the heads. The hair doesn't come out, and is very securely in the head. Some of the Lalaloopsy Girls have color changing hair, but these two don't. I don't mind it, because I wouldn't be playing with them in the water.

They're sew cute! Aren't they? I really enjoy these dolls, and can't wait to get them on the shelves to display them with my other dolls. I have Mittens Fluff N Stuff, but I'm not going to unbox her. She's got too many accessories with her, and I don't want to take a chance on losing or ruining them.

 

You should really check out the Lalaloopsy Girls website!! It's an adorable site, and if you're a parent, it can entertain your kids! Also, the Lalaloopsy website has fun games, recipes for sweet treats from the Sweet Shoppe collection. It has info where you can buy the dolls. I found Crumb at Target, she was $14.99. Walmart has them for the same price. The other ones with the pajamas, they're $19.99. They're really worth the money, because they're well made and adorable. I'm looking for the Cloud E Sky and Storm E Sky double pack, and hoping to get that soon! If I do, I'll let you know!! I hope this has given you some insight on the Lalaloopsy Girls dolls, and helps you make a solid decision on the investment of one or two.. or five. They're great for girls that love to play with their dolls. They're great for the girls that want to just display their dolls (like me).  They're great for anyone that loves Lalaloopsy!

Lalaloopsy Mania!

Hey everyone!
Today I'm sharing a few pictures of part of my Lalaloopsy collection. You'll get to peak at my large core dolls that are boxed. I didn't take pictures of my Lalaloopsy Minis, Workshops, Girls, Tinies, Littles, Micros, Oopsies or the Color Me dolls. We're doing some renovations to part of the house, and those dolls are all packed up. These were the last ones to move, so now I have to go pack them and move them.

Monster High Skelita Review!

Hey everyone!
Today, I'm going to be doing a review of Skelita Calaveras from Monster High. She's part of the Accessorize series. I took a bunch of pictures to show some details of this doll.

This is the box, off the shelf. She's displayed well, and you can see all of her accessories clearly. 

This is the back of the box. It has Skelita, and another character I'm not familiar with. It's a cute picture, and has the dolls pictured with all of her accessories that this doll comes with.

 This is her, out of the box, completely accessorized. She comes with a headband that's made of three flowers that are pink and blue. The sunglasses are a clear blue that look like cat eye glasses. The belt looks like it's made of bones, to go with whole skeleton themed doll. The purse is a Lucha Libre mask! I love the purse! I think it's one of the best things this doll has going for her. Her outfit is a top with a skirt, both look to be folklorica inspired material, keeping in theme.



This is her face, up close and personal. She's got a beautifully made up face with the Day of the Dead feel to her. She's got big beautiful eyes, and lips.

This is her, once you take her clothes off. You can see this clear plastic mold over her body, and that's to make clothes fill out better when she's on display. Since she doesn't have anything but bones for a body, I guess she kind of needs this to look better in her outfits.

As I said before, I wanted to show some detail. The hands are my favorite part of the skeleton body. Maybe it's because the hands are one of the smallest details that get passed up a lot. The arms are bone too!

The torso is pretty cool too. She's alllllll bones, folks. This doll would be great for customizing. I'm not going to do anything to her though. I think she's pretty awesome the way she is.

Her back is really cool looking. She's got a cool spine, shoulder blades, hip bones, and oddly butt cheeks.

 

Her feet are great. They didn't forget the feet to be boney!! The shoes!! The shoes are Lucha Libre inspired, obviously. They match the purse great, and are realistically appealing. If I could wear heels, I'd be a buyer.

So this is her, completely dress. Her limbs look and feel a little flimsy, but she's really well put together. She's not going to fall apart, as long as you take good care of her. She bends well, and bends at every joint. She is a great doll. I'm a huge fan of her, if you look at my other posts, there's a post on my other Skelita doll. I did recently decide to unbox that doll, and try to fix her hair, because it was a mess. It also had glue and lumps. but I'm working on it. I will not be doing anything to this dolls hair, because it's not THAT bad, and it's too much work. She's still displaying well, and I'm not that concerned.
That's it. That's my review on Skelita. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope it gave you some info to inspire you to go buy a Skelita doll!  She's pretty much the only Monster high doll that I'm interested in. She's unique, and well designed.
